Dr. Michael Bogdan founded 2301 Plastic Surgery in 2008 and has led it ever since. Stanford-trained, fellowship-trained in aesthetic surgery, and certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, he has spent more than 20 years in private practice caring for patients from Frisco, Plano, Fort Worth, and beyond.

The Founder of 2301 Plastic Surgery

Dr. Bogdan opened the practice in 2008 and grew it into a 6,665-square-foot facility with two operating rooms. He designed and built the on-site, QUAD A accredited surgical suite so his patients could have surgery in a private setting that meets national safety standards. He sets the clinical standards for the practice, and he personally selected and mentors the surgeons who have joined him.

Trained by the Surgeons Who Shaped Modern Facelift and Rhinoplasty

Dr. Bogdan earned his medical degree at Stanford University and then stayed for an additional six years of plastic surgery training, finishing as chief resident. He was then accepted to one of the most competitive aesthetic surgery fellowships in the country, at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital with New York University, where he learned facelift techniques from Dr. Dan Baker and Dr. Sherrell Aston and rhinoplasty from Dr. Nick Tabbal.
After moving to Texas, he spent three years working alongside the late Dr. Sam Hamra, the Dallas surgeon who developed the deep plane and composite facelift techniques used around the world today, and four years with rhinoplasty pioneer Dr. Jack Gunter. Few surgeons anywhere have learned facelift and rhinoplasty directly from the people who defined them.

An Innovator & Problem Solver

At 16, Dr. Bogdan was hired by the National Institutes of Health, where he spent five years building and programming computer systems for behavioral research. During the same years, well before the Internet, he built a network for the Montgomery County Public Schools that analyzed student performance and was deployed to 20 schools.
He attended the University of Maryland on a full academic scholarship, completed his chemistry degree requirements in two years, then added a second degree in zoology, graduating summa cum laude with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Volunteering on the night shift in a local emergency room drew him toward medicine, and Stanford admitted him to its Medical Scientist Training Program, a fully funded merit scholarship for future physician-scientists. During his surgical training he found he loved the technical demands of surgery and the relationships with patients more than the lab. In 2016 he added an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.

A Leader and Teacher in Aesthetic Surgery

Dr. Bogdan’s peers elected him to the Board of Directors of both The Aesthetic Society and the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (2016–2021), the organizations that educate board-certified plastic surgeons who specialize in cosmetic surgery and fund research on its safety. He received the Tiffany Award for Best Scientific Presentation from The Aesthetic Society, and he teaches plastic surgery chief residents and fellows. He has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor every year since 2019 and to Texas Super Doctors every year since 2016.
