Choosing a Chin Implant
Chin implants are available in an array of sizes, shapes, and materials. During your consultation, our surgeons will work with you to determine precisely which implants will work to achieve your desired results. Dr. Bogdan and Dr. Cason are among the few Dallas plastic surgeons who utilize 3-dimensional computer imaging to help you in designing your facial plastic surgery procedure.
When choosing a chin implant, many people also choose to have other facial cosmetic surgery procedures performed to achieve a more comprehensive makeover. Rhinoplasty is a popular option, as well as other procedures like a forehead lift, facelift, and eyelid surgery.

The chin implant is placed in a pocket over the front of the jawbone, through an incision in the skin just under the chin. Once the implant is placed and adjusted, the incision is closed with sutures. The outpatient procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. Usually, the chin is taped after surgery to minimize swelling and discomfort. Sutures in the skin will be removed in 5 to 7 days.
Recovery and Results
You will experience some discomfort, bruising, and swelling in the affected area for several days. It is normal to have some temporary difficulty with facial expressions and talking for a few days following surgery. Dr. Bogdan and Dr. Cason will give you detailed instructions for your aftercare, including any restrictions on your diet or activities.
Swelling should subside gradually over the course of a few weeks, and your newly contoured face will emerge. People may be unable to tell that you’ve had an implant, but they will notice that you look better – and you can feel more confident, too!
